- Konecranes Plc with Finnish Business ID 0942718-2 as the parent company of Konecranes group of companies having general responsibility for employee candidate personal data; and
- Konecranes Global Corporation with Finnish Business ID 2711339-8 having special responsibility in Konecranes Group for centralized IT resources and international personal data transfers.
These companies as well as all other companies (acting as data processors) belonging to Konecranes group of companies (also “Konecranes”, “we”, "us", "our") place the highest priority on protecting the integrity of your personal data. The following explains the commitment of Konecranes to keeping your personal data confidential and secure at all times and the personal data processing practices in Konecranes business activities. Konecranes processes your personal data in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Konecranes utilizes an online recruitment tool as part of its recruitment processes to publish job advertisements and to receive job applications. This Konecranes Employee Candidate Data Protection Statement ("Statement") is indented to provide you with general information on the processing of your personal data ("Employee Candidate Data") by Konecranes in connection with the mentioned recruitment tool or Konecranes’ recruitment process in general (both “Recruitment”).
Additional and more detailed data protection information applicable to Employee Candidate Data is available in:

In case of possible discrepancy, the information provided in the Description prevails the information presented in this Statement.
Please read this Statement carefully prior to participating in the Recruitment. By participating in the Recruitment and/or by submitting (directly or indirectly) your Employee Candidate Data to Konecranes in connection with the Recruitment, you express your understanding to the processing of your Employee Candidate Data in the manner provided in this Statement. Otherwise, we expect that you will immediately discontinue participating in the Recruitment and not to provide or cease providing Konecranes with your Employee Candidate Data. However, please note that the absence of your Employee Candidate Data might prevent us fully or partially from taking you into account in the Recruitment.
Your consent to processing your Employee Candidate Data covers all collecting (also from any third parties as the case may require) and processing activities and Employee Candidate Data obtained in connection to the Recruitment for the purposes defined in this Statement and in the Description. You give this consent to Konecranes by providing Konecranes with your Employee Candidate Data either by continuing the use of the online tool or by other means, e.g. manually.
Notwithstanding the paragraph above, all collection and processing of sensitive Employee Candidate Data (as described below) will always be subject to your separate consent obtained from you as the case may require.
However, please note that if you spontaneously provide Konecranes with any sensitive Employee Candidate Data (e.g. by enclosing your photo or any health information as part of your application) not specifically requested by Konecranes, you will be deemed to have provided Konecranes with your separate consent for sensitive Employee Candidate data processing for the purposes described in this Statement.
Our Data Collection Methods
Participating in the Recruitment requires you to personally provide us with certain Employee Candidate Data. Besides the utilization of computerized data collection methods, depending on the Recruitment, we may also collect all or certain Employee Candidate Data from you interactively (e.g. in a phone call or job interview).
In addition to collecting Employee Candidate Data from you personally, we may collect your Employee Candidate Data also from any public sources, third parties designated by you, our own employees and/or other persons providing services for us.
The Data We Collect and Process
Basic Employee Candidate Data typically collected via our online tool consists mostly of your name, contact details, work experience, education, skills, references, interests, CV and cover letter. When providing us with information about a third party (such as references), you are responsible for ensuring that you have attained all such third party consents possibly required for providing us with the information.
In addition, we may collect also other types of Employee Candidate Data that are necessary for the Recruitment in question. Detailed information concerning the types and processing of Employee Candidate Data is available in the Description.
Konecranes does not generally collect any sensitive Employee Candidate Data (such as personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership or data concerning health or sex life). However, as the case may be, Konecranes may need to collect some sensitive Employee Candidate Data about you, if it is necessary to ensure the compliance with any mandatory legal requirement in any applicable legislation or, as the case may require, to assess your suitability for the open position.
Furthermore, if you participate in the Recruitment electronically via our online tool, we may automatically track certain personal data concerning you, such as the IP address, the source of visit and the type of your web browser even prior to explicitly requesting any of your Employee Candidate Data described above.
We retain your Employee Candidate Data no longer than six (6) months unless otherwise required by any applicable legislation. However, Konecranes may at any time delete your application and other Employee Candidate Data partly or in full. Please note, that if you withdraw you consent for processing Employee Candidate Data, Konecranes shall delete your Employee Candidate data immediately.
The Purposes of Processing
Konecranes processes your Employee Candidate Data only in connection of our recruitment processes including receiving applications, job interviews, personal assessments, background checks (possibly conducted by external service providers) and any other actions necessary for the conclusion of the Recruitment. Therefore, the primary purpose of processing of your Employee Candidate Data is:
- to enable our recruitment processes.
We also process Employee Candidate Data for:
- reporting and analytics;
- IT system and process development; and
- to ensure compliance with any legislation applicable to the Recruitment.
Employee Candidate Data will not be used for direct marketing or for any other purpose than those described above in this Statement and in the Description.
Disclosures and Transfers of Contact Data
Konecranes does not generally disclose any Employee Candidate Data to be independently used by other data controllers outside Konecranes unless required by the law.
Konecranes may transfer your Employee Candidate Data within Konecranes companies or to third parties (e.g. subcontractors) who process Employee Candidate Data for Konecranes for the purposes described in this Statement and in the Description.
As Konecranes operates globally, due to technical and practical requirements your Employee Candidate Data may be processed by Konecranes companies or subcontractors located outside the European Union or European Economic Area. In such cases all Konecranes companies and all subcontractors shall process Employee Candidate Data in accordance with applicable legislations (e.g. justified by EU Commission standard contractual clauses) and data processing policies and instructions of Konecranes.
Konecranes may provide aggregate statistics about its employee candidates and the Recruitment to reputable third parties, but these statistics are anonymized and will not include your Employee Candidate Data.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. We cannot fully guarantee the security of your Employee Candidate Data transmitted to us; any such transmission is therefore at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to prevent unauthorized and illegal access, alteration and denial of use of your Employee Candidate Data.
From time to time, Konecranes may place information on your computer which allows Konecranes to recognize your computer. This information is commonly known as a “cookie”. Typically, cookies enable collection of certain information regarding your computer, including your internet protocol (IP) address, your computer’s operating system, your browser type and the address of any referring sites. Cookies are intended to improve availability and quality of the Recruitment. A separate Cookie Statement explains the cookies in detail (references to Statement above and below include also the contents of the Cookie Statement unless otherwise stated case by case). In case of possible discrepancy, the information provided in the Cookie Statement prevails over information of this Statement and the Description.
At any time, you have the right to:
- gain access to your Employee Candidate Data;
- verify the accuracy of your Employee Candidate Data; and
- at your request, have your incomplete, inaccurate or outdated Employee Candidate Data modified or erased.
Also, at any time, you have the right to:
- withdraw your consent to processing of your Employee Candidate Data.
Withdrawing your consent results in termination of the Recruitment for your part because processing of Employee Candidate Data is a prerequisite for the success of our recruitment processes.
We recommend that you exercise your foresaid rights by accessing to your user profile in the online tool. You may also contact us to the contact information provided below in order to execute your rights.
Our information sources related to the Recruitment may, from time to time, contain links to and from the websites of our partner networks, advertisers and affiliates. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites are separate from our web sites and do not operate under this Statement or any other data protection practices of Konecranes, but have their own data protection practices, statements or similar documents.. We do not accept any responsibility or liability for these practices, statements or similar documents or the lack of them or your use of such websites. Please check these practices, statements and/or any other data protection documents before you submit any Employee Candidate Data to these websites.
Changes to this Statement
From time to time, Konecranes may change or amend this Statement. In addition, Konecranes may modify or revoke access to the Recruitment at any time with or without notice. It is the recommendation of Konecranes that you revisit this Statement periodically to review any changes to this Statement.
