This crane configuration fits layouts that benefit from the hopper-side runway rail being installed at the grade level. This arrangement saves the cost of an elevated runway structure on that side. SLGs can be used with traveling hoppers, an arrangement that increases the crane throughput by eliminating long travel in the crane work cycle.
