Modernisations

Our crane customers are continuously striving to increase their production capacity by removing any perceived bottlenecks. As a result they will also demand increased performance from their cranes. The modernisation services that our companies offer can significantly increase the reliability and performance of a crane by combining technology know-how with modern crane components. Due to the heavy-duty nature of heavy-duty process cranes, most units will undergo modernisation many times during their life span. Our modernisation service companies modernise all cranes regardless of original manufacturer.

Different degrees of Modernisation

  • Upgrades to meet today's demands
  • Improve availability, reliability and safety
  • Cost savings in crane operation and maintenance

Upgrading the existing crane to meet today's production demands, both in respect of technology and equipment lifetime

  • capacity
  • load
  • speeds
  • lifting height
  • end approaches
  • classification and lifetime

and improving performance through

  • advanced crane control methods
  • better crane positioning systems
  • improved crane automation
  • latest load handling equipment
  • increased capacity

Crane Modernisation improves crane availability, reliability and safety and is part of cost controlled maintenance

  • re-engineering the crane to meet production demands that exceed original design standards
  • reach compliance with safety regulations
  • prevent unexpected downtime
  • improve crane control
  • improve operator's visibility of the load
  • reduce manpower needed in the lifting process
  • improve conditions for maintenance work
  • increase the operational efficiency
  • no emergency repairs
  • modernise to secure spare parts availability
  • modernise to make maintenance more efficient

Pre-engineered Modernisations

Pre-engineered modernisations are typically carried out on light duty cranes and executed quickly by our service organization, such as hoist replacement or new motor controls of inverter type for long travelling.

Engineered Modernisations
Engineered modernisations are project type cases for heavy duty cranes executed by Konecranes' specialist modernisation teams. Engineered Modernisations are "turn-key" projects, including the projecting phase, engineering, production ending in installation and commissioning.
