KCI Konecranes acquires the crane service business of Donges Stahlbau GmbH (Donges) in Germany. The company has been active in the crane business for over 40 years and has a large installed crane base in Germany.
Donges has decided to concentrate on its core business, the supply of steel construction halls and demanding steel structures. As a part of this restructuring, KCI Konecranes has taken over Donges' crane service business.
Donges will also discontinue with its new crane manufacturing and sales. In the future, the parties will join efforts in selling Donges buildings and Konecranes EOT cranes together. This offers additional growth for KCI Konecranes' standard and special EOT crane business in Germany.
The annual sales of the services and crane business has typically been over 10 million DEM. The acquired service operations will be integrated in Pro Kran Service GmbH.
Earlier in 2000 KCI Konecranes has already announced two acquisitions in Germany. In January, the special crane company Kulicke was acquired and in March, KCI Konecranes reinforced its position in the crane service market by acquiring the service business of Noell Service and Maschinentechnik GmbH. The acquisition of Donges strengthens further KCI Konecranes' presence in the German market.
KCI Konecranes is one of the leading crane companies in the world. The KCI Konecranes activity is organized along three Business Areas: Maintenance Services, Standard Lifting Equipment and Special Cranes. In 1999, Group sales were EUR 591,5 million with well over 4000 employees in 34 countries all over the world.
