KCI Konecranes RTG's to East Coast USA

Georgia Ports Authority (GPA), USA, and Konecranes VLC closed a contract for a delivery of six Konecranes Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG) to Savannah, GA. The delivery is due in September 2003.

The several RTG orders received during the last four months reflect the strength of KCI Konecranes’ technology and service concept. The new orders for Special Cranes support a good operating level for the rest of the year.

KCI Koneports Americas, KCI Konecranes’ local maintenance organisation specialising in port services, will provide maintenance and technical support for those cranes.

The 16 wheel RTG's will have a high performance specification. They come equipped with Konecranes Sway Prevention and Fine Positioning System. All features are electromechanical, with no hydraulics involved. The cranes will be manufactured in Europe and erected at site in Savannah.

Konecranes is the market leader in RTG’s in North and Central America. After the delivery of these cranes there will be totally 120 Konecranes new generation RTG's in operation in this area.

KCI Konecranes own AC Frequency Control System composes the most modern and reliable drive for the RTG's. Eliminating the hydraulic systems and utilizing AC drives significantly reduce the maintenance costs of the RTG's.
