Konecranes has decided to streamline its UK structure by merging the trading activities of its UK-based companies Konecranes Service Ltd, Konecranes (UK) Ltd and Morris Material Handling. The new, larger company will be known as Konecranes UK Limited and operate under the Konecranes brand.
Konecranes and Morris are the UK crane industry market leaders for the design, manufacture and supply of equipment, service and lifting solutions. By merging its UK capabilities, Konecranes will be able to offer customers an unparalleled product offering, level of service and technical support.
Konecranes UK Limited Managing Director, Bill Maxwell, said: ”The merger of our UK businesses will enable us to bring the wealth of experience and know-how from our individual business units under the Konecranes brand. This will make it easier for all our UK customers to benefit from the Konecranes Group’s local presence and global expertise, and to improve the efficiency and productivity of their own operations”.
The merger will result in the closure of crane manufacturing activities in the Loughborough site affecting 90 employees. All future crane manufacturing will be combined in the ‘state of the art’ facility in East Kilbride, Scotland. Merging the businesses will additionally lead to permanent personnel reductions affecting approximately 25 employees.
Konecranes UK Limited will be the largest operation of its kind in the UK and will employ 450 personnel.
