Agilon brings OP Mobility Automotive full accountability, traceability and 100% stock accuracy

Konecranes Agilon warehouse automation system at OP MobilityOP Mobility Automotive Ltd. (formerly Plastic Omnium) has achieved substantial savings of approximately £70,000 annually thanks to implementing the Konecranes Agilon automated warehouse, with a payback time of less than six months.

Today, its maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) materials are continuously accessible, the location of each required item is easily identified, and no transaction goes unnoticed as every pick is recorded. Previously, the company faced challenges with stock management, slow stock access, low accuracy, and lack of space, all of which have been resolved with Agilon's automated solutions.

OPmobility is a French, family‑led, independent industrial group operating globally. Its diversified customer portfolio, industrial expertise, and focus on innovation make it a significant supplier in the automotive sector. The Edison Road facility in the UK supplies tailgates for Jaguar Land Rover.

The company sought improved control over maintenance spares, with a particular focus on knowing whether spare parts were available at the time of related transactions. Another key objective was to reduce the risk of spare parts becoming unavailable during breakdowns, while also addressing space constraints.

Several traditional stock management alternatives were reviewed. During the evaluation, it became clear that the solution was especially well-suited for storing smaller maintenance spares rather than finished goods. After seeing the system in operation, the decision was made to proceed based on its ability to provide clear transaction accountability and support features such as visual confirmation, weight control, and secure user identification.

Saving up to nearly £70,000 annually

Before deciding to implement Agilon, OP Mobility conducted a detailed return‑on‑investment analysis to assess the total savings potential. The evaluation considered the time spent on the existing manual process of searching for spare parts, the value of manual activities automated by the system, and the additional savings potential enabled by automated replenishment.

The analysis showed a short payback period and a significant annual savings potential, demonstrating a strong business case for the solution.

Installed in only three days

The Agilon system installed at the OP Mobility warehouse is 14 meters long and 6.1 meters high, and includes one robot and one user access point. Installation was completed in three days, compared with the several weeks typically required for traditional stock management systems.

The installation process was well-controlled and met operational expectations. As warehouse staff became familiar with the system, the solution was well-received and integrated smoothly into day‑to‑day operations.

Shorter response time to breakdowns

Deploying Agilon in the OP Mobility warehouse has brought clear operational benefits. Spare parts are easy to locate, and availability is immediately visible, supporting faster response to breakdowns and smoother daily work. The solution has also supported financial and system audits.

Parts are accessed through a central portal, improving visibility into stock levels and control over P&L. This has strengthened budgeting, accountability, and collaboration with suppliers through controlled replenishment processes.

The system is supported by Agilon Global Technical Support, including 24 seven remote service. Building on the existing setup, the solution also offers possibilities to further enhance automation by adopting additional Agilon functionalities, such as automated ordering, extended supplier integration, and external storage solutions for special item types.
