EC Electro Center Oy, based in Tampere, Finland, specializes in e-house solutions for electric power distribution, machine control, and electrical/automation switchgear. The company serves industries including shipyard cranes, renewable energy, glass technology, mining, paper, and marine, delivering integrated solutions worldwide.

Facing warehouse space constraints and manual inventory processes, EC Electro Center implemented Agilon warehouse automation, which dramatically improved operational efficiency, inventory management, and customer service.

Challenge: Limited floor space and manual inventory

The component shop, offering a wide range of electrical and automation components, faced space constraints and inefficient manual warehouse management. The open shelves in the small-item storage occupied nearly all of the 300-square-meter floor space, and warehouse management relied heavily on employees’ memory. Expanding the component shop while maintaining production efficiency was impossible without automation.

Solution: Agilon streamlines operations

EC Electro Center located the Agilon system between the component shop and production facilities. A component seller and Agilon super user at EC Electro Center said users quickly learned how to use the system and that it had been designed so simply that only short guidance was needed to get started.

The automation also relocated inventory from production cells to Agilon, further optimizing space and workflow.

Easy inventory and online warehouse management

The automated warehousing system saves significant time. Staff no longer need to visit the warehouse to check product availability—the information is instantly visible in the system. The buyer can actively monitor Agilon’s alert list and order additional products whenever stock levels reach the alert threshold.

The company is exploring an automated order call-out feature in Agilon, integrated directly with suppliers’ ERP systems, while real-time ERP updates continue seamlessly.

Straightforward inventory

Managing inventory has become much simpler. Agilon eliminates several weeks of manual work annually that staff previously performed. The same data now exists in both Agilon and the ERP system, freeing staff to focus on productive tasks that drive higher output. Real-time inventory balances are available in the portal, enabling immediate product availability checks during customer visits.

Direct feed to assembly points and 24/7 customer service

Agilon has been extended to assembly points with large volumes and eeding specific components to those points saves process time and pickers' time. 

Super users also recognize Konecranes' customer service for its rapid response to issues and notes that Remote Service reacts and responds even before they pick up the phone.

"A few times, we have not even noticed any tech problems. Customer service has called to say that a technician is on the way," said an Agilon super user at EC Electro Center.
