Doing business with Konecranes

Regulations such as EUDR, REACH, the Cyber Resilience Act, and the EU Data Act set new expectations for responsible sourcing, data sharing, and transparency. To meet the requirements, Konecranes actively collects information and documentation from suppliers to ensure compliance, resilience, and uninterrupted operations. We aim to achieve our targets in a compliant, fact-based, and safe manner, with proactive risk mitigation as a priority. Cybersecurity is a key focus area for Konecranes, and we expect our suppliers to prepare by assessing their risks, implementing cybersecurity protocols, training employees, and preparing for transparent communication if incidents occur. Together, this builds a resilient and reliable extended supply chain.

Becoming a supplier

Konecranes suppliers play an important role in ensuring that our products and services meet the quality expectations and are delivered in time. We are interested of all supplier offerings that can enhance Konecranes' products and services or our own operations.

Suppliers must be qualified before commencing any business with Konecranes. This qualification requires suppliers and subcontractors to fulfil the following main characteristics:

Financially sound and cost-effective operations,
Compliance with performance requirements and expectations related to quality, availability, and delivery times.

Decision-making & contracting

Making a final decision on supplier onboarding and formalizing the partnership through contracting.

The relationship between Konecranes and a supplier is based on mutual respect for written agreements and the specified requirements of individual orders. The business relationship and performance must also be appraised, maintained, and continually improved. This relationship may evolve in some cases towards strategic co-operation and joint planning of future business areas.

Konecranes will categorise and segment onboarded suppliers internally. Based on segmentation level, Konecranes may nominate a supplier manager to assume overall business responsibility for the supplier. Supplier segmentation determines the basic rules of overall relationship management and such aspects as the frequency of periodical business review meetings between the companies. Forecasting and the frequency of demand updates will be agreed separately with each supplier to serve the needs of both companies.
