Train to become a Multi Skilled Crane Service Engineer with a world-leading lifting systems Company

Konecranes global challenge is to get the right people, with the right skills to provide a valuable service for our customers. 100% of our UK Apprentices have gained permanent employment in Konecranes, after they have successfully completed the Apprentice Programme.

Our UK Apprentice Programme works in partnership with local colleges to train our Apprentices over a 3-year period. Some of our best Technicians and current Senior Managers have come through this programme. Training will be in accordance with the Konecranes Apprentice Training Programme.

First year apprentices will attend the local college for off-the-job training for a year and subsequent training will be through day release in accordance with the Company's Apprentice Training Programme.  You will also attend your local branch during college holidays to help gain further understanding of our business and the nature of the work carried out.

At the end of the first year there will be a month long internal training programme at our UK Training Centre.

On completion of the training and subject to consideration of ability, aptitude and successful college results it is expected that you will qualify as a Service Technician, with an NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Electrical Engineering and you will be offered a permanent position in the Company. Subject to performance and aspiration, there will be the option to complete a 4th year to undertake a BTEC Higher National Certificate in electrical and electronic engineering.

Paid day or block release for attendance at a local College will be granted for the duration of the apprenticeship, subject to satisfactory results and attendance.  The normal period of training is three years.

What do our apprentices say about working at Konecranes?

Reece Wilson, Service Technician Apprentice, Programme 2019

"The thing I enjoy the most about my job is that not every day is the same there's always a new job to be completed the next day making it vary from very basic jobs to very technical jobs. Also I have a very supportive team around me including the other Technicians I work with as well as my manager and supervisors who understand the balance of work and college."

Aston Morgan, Service Technician Apprentice, Programme 2016

"I chose this apprenticeship as I knew that an apprenticeship would be much more suited to me, and would allow me to have real on the job training to set my up for when I am fully qualified. I have enjoyed working with all the different technicians, as they are all different and I have learnt different things from each one. I enjoy travelling around to different sites and carrying out different jobs, meaning that no two days are the same. I would recommend this apprenticeship to anyone thinking about doing something exciting, practical and challenging. Who would like to learn the job whilst being paid, and also gain all of the necessary qualifications to be a competent engineer."
