What we look for

During the interview process, we look for people with a good attitude to work, a passion for joining a global brand, and a desire to progress their career. Individuals who demonstrate a methodical approach to problem solving, will do well – this is particularly relevant during the interview process to join our Apprenticeship Scheme. It is also important for us to select candidates who are inquisitive and have a thirst for knowledge, so we encourage all interviewees to be as open as possible with their questions.

Application Process

Step 1: Application Stage

All applications must be made online via our career’s pages. Simply click on the vacancy you wish to apply for and follow the instructions. We recommend that you complete your application via a laptop or computer, currently our application process isn’t mobile-enabled, we hope to correct this in the near future.

As you begin your application, you will be asked to complete a few initial questions. These ensure that you are able to meet the basic criteria for the role. Once your application is complete, you will receive an email confirmation and our Talent Acquisition team will aim to review your application within 48 hours.

In some circumstances, the review process can take up to four working days. Please be assured that we aim to assess all applicants as soon as possible. We contact every applicant to let them know if they have been selected for the next stage, or if we feel there are more suitable candidates.

If you are successful, we will get in touch to arrange an initial telephone interview, or a pre-recorded interview. Please note: for pre-recorded video interviews, you will need access to a webcam; laptops, tablets or smartphones are perfectly acceptable.

Shortlisting normally takes around five working days. If you are selected after the initial assessment, you will be invited for a face-to-face interview.

Step 2 : The Interview Stage

The type and seniority of the role that you apply for will determine how many interview stages are required; 1, 2 or 3. This tailored approach allows us to find the perfect fit for the vacancy and for our organisation. It also enables you, the applicant, to get to know us better and find out more about Konecranes. We appreciate that interviewing is a two-way process and we encourage you to explore us during this phase.

During your first face-to-face interview, you will meet with two interviewers; the hiring manager and either, a member of their team or representative from HR. A section of your interview will include competency and/or scenario questions, which enable us to validate your application and gain a better insight into your experience.

You may also be required to complete a psychometric assessment, deliver a presentation, or complete a practical task on the day. For practical assignments, you will be fully briefed, so you’ll know in advance exactly what is expected of you.

We always give applicants adequate time to prepare and we strongly advise to do as much research as possible. If you are unsure about anything prior to, or during the interview, you are free to seek clarification; we never deduct points for asking for clarity, so we urge candidates to ask as many questions as they need.

For senior roles, there may be several stages to your interview, so you will be required to meet us more than once. Not only does this help you relax into the process, but you will also get a chance to really get to know us. The interview may include a psychometric, numerical or verbal assessment. Whilst these assessments may seem daunting, we really just want you to be yourself and answer honestly – our team will make you feel as comfortable as possible throughout the process.

First and second stage interviews normally take around 1-2 weeks depending on candidate and hiring manager availability. If a third stage interview is required, you will be notified in good time. As a general approximation, the application and interview stages will take no longer than 4-6 weeks in total.

Useful Hints and Tips

Do make sure that you tailor your application to a specific role or department. Spend time on your CV and ensure your information is not only accurate, but relevant. Also check that your LinkedIn profile is complete.

Think about your skills, experience and capabilities. It’s important to only apply for a role that you are capable of doing. We are keen to work with people with transferable skills, so demonstrating these on your CV, LinkedIn profile and in your application, will be useful to our decision-making process.

Be certain to answer questions in the online application as thoroughly as possible. This information is reviewed by our Talent Acquisition team and will help us decide whether you could be a great fit for our business.

Do your research before your interview. To find out more about Konecranes, visit our company website, our LinkedIn, YouTube and other social media channels. Reading up on us, our customers, or familiarising yourself with our online activity will help you gain better insight into our company and culture.

Preparation is absolutely key when you apply for a position with us – we will invest as much time in you as we possibly can to ensure you are the right fit for the business and we hope that you will do the same.

Use the opportunity to ask questions. A job interview should be a two-way conversation and a two-way assessment, so never be afraid to ask us things, or build a reciprocal narrative during your face-to-face meeting with our team.
