KCI Konecranes has received a repeat order for a ship-to-shore (STS) container crane plus one optional to the Port of Kotka, Finland. The value of the order is over FIM 20 million. Delivery is due in December 2000.
The container crane is to be delivered to the new container terminal in Mussalo, Finland. The terminal will open in the end of year 2000. The new terminal is to be operated jointly by the Port of Kotka and Steveco Oy. KCI Konecranes has previously delivered two container cranes to the Port of Kotka, in 1989 and in 1998. Both these cranes are under KCI Konecranes' maintenance contract. Also the new crane will be maintained by KCI Konecranes.
The container crane to be delivered is of Panamax size with a lifting capacity of 40 ton and an outreach of 36 m. The crane represents KCI Koneranes' latest technology within container cranes. A similar crane was delivered to Gdynia, Poland in 1999.
The crane uses KCI Konecranes' own AC Frequency Control Drive System and KCI Konecranes' diagnostic system for trouble shooting. All mechanical solutions are non-hydraulic posing least risk environmentally.
KCI Konecranes is a unique supplier in the container crane field by being able to produce modern AC drives itself. This feature brings our customers superior advantage as they can receive fast and knowledgeable service from one source, KCI Konecranes.
