Konecranes launches offline chatbot for instant troubleshooting support

Trade press releases

Konecranes has launched its new Warehouse Management System (WMS) Chatbot, an offline digital assistant designed to support operators with real-time troubleshooting and task guidance. While originally developed for warehouse environments, the chatbot’s modular and scalable design allows it to be adapted for broader use across customer facilities and industries.

The WMS Chatbot integrates directly into the WMS interface and operates without internet access, ensuring all data remains within the customer’s secure IT environment. This offline capability minimizes cybersecurity risks, supports compliance with data protection regulations and enables operation in environments where internet access may be restricted.

The chatbot is pre-trained on Konecranes servers using customer-specific documents such as equipment manuals, electrical drawings and service history, and is then securely transferred to the customer’s offline systems. As a result, operators have immediate access to relevant service documentation, historical maintenance data and step-by-step instructions for resolving common issues, which helps to reduce downtime and support safer, more efficient operations. With a scalable architecture and customizable knowledge base, the chatbot can adapt to specific customer workflows and industry needs, and supports multilingual use for diverse operational teams.

“The chatbot enhances warehouse operations by acting as an always-available expert,” said Lukas Keusch, Chief Engineer, Material Handling Engineering at Konecranes. “This immediate access to information reduces downtime, accelerates task completion and encourages the team to resolve issues independently and efficiently.”

“The early results from pilot deployments have been very promising,” said Marko Talala, Director, Material Flow Solutions, Konecranes. “We’re seeing increased operator confidence, quicker problem resolution and a reduced need for external assistance - exactly the kind of impact we aimed for with this solution.”

The chatbot is part of Konecranes’ ongoing investment in digitalization and smart tools that help industrial facilities run more safely and efficiently. It reflects the company’s broader strategy to embed AI and automation into material flow systems to improve productivity and uptime.

A strong focus on customers, commitment to business growth, and continuous improvement make Konecranes a material handling industry leader. This is underpinned by investments in digitalization and technology, as well as efforts to make material flows more efficient with solutions that decarbonize the economy and advance circularity and safety.
