Inspections key safety practice

The most important reason to perform daily inspections is safety. Even with regular inspections and maintenance, issues can arise for a variety of reasons including continuous or heavy use, operator behavior, overloads and more. Daily inspections required in many countries

Caterpillar quoteThe daily inspection is a user’s (or crane operator’s) own assessment of the condition of an asset and environment for safe use. It is not an expert’s examination of the condition of an asset or component. Daily inspections are a statutory requirement in several countries and good practice to follow for the safe use of lifting equipment. Konecranes CheckApp for Daily Inspections follows the guidance set in the ISO 9927 standard and in applicable statutory regulations.

FAQs

Where are daily inspections required?

In the US a pre-shift (functional) inspection is required at the beginning of each operator's shift per OSHA 1910.179, ASME/ANSI B30.2, and CMAA SPEC. 78.

Daily inspections are also a requirement in 18 other countries. Check out the full list of countries.

Can I download the app and start using it?

CheckApp for Daily Inspections is available as an add-on to a Service agreement. CheckApp is sold per asset and can be added to any number of cranes in your facility - even those not under Service agreement. Once you decide which cranes to add CheckApp to, you can set up your users to begin using the app for daily inspections. Our CheckApp user guide provides instructions for getting started and tips for implementation.

How do I get a login for CheckApp?

Customers with CheckApp added to their Service agreement can add users in the yourKONECRANES customer portal. Check out our one-page instruction sheet for adding users in yourKONECRANES. Before you begin, make sure your users have an email account as that is what they will use to sign into yourKONECRANES.

Can we use a tablet for CheckApp?

CheckApp works on different kinds of devices, but tablets are too large to hold in one hand and a desktop or laptop needs to be on a table making for a lot of back and forth to enter checkpoints - so a mobile phone may be the best choice.

Do we need a mobile device for each operator using CheckApp?

Instead of purchasing a mobile device for each operator - you can used shared devices. You’ll also want to think about where the mobile devices should be stored when not in use and if they should be checked out and back in after a shift or workday.

What happens to the CheckApp data if I discontinue my agreement with Konecranes?

If you cancel your agreement, you retain access to yourKONECRANES (subject to change, conditions apply).
