Aligned with central frameworks
Our sustainability approach and targets are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Learn more about our sustainability targets and how they connect to the SDGs from Targets and progress. Konecranes joined the UN Global Compact in 2010. In our daily work, we are committed to the ten principles of the UN Global Compact. This means that we are committed to aligning our strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, and to taking actions that advance societal goals.
Konecranes has set ambitious climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These targets are aligned with the Paris Agreement on climate change to limit global warming to 1.5 °C. Konecranes respects human rights and promotes the principles set in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of the International Labour Organization (ILO). We are also committed to adhering to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
Highlights of year 2025
- We deliver safe and secure material handling
In 2025, we continued to further develop our safety culture, digital ecosystem and product safety, and strengthened cyber preparedness and enterprise resilience. Konecranes IEC 62443 cybersecurity certification was reaudited with excellent results. - We enable a decarbonized and circular world
Konecranes raised its climate ambition. After reaching our science-based target to halve Scope 1 and 2 emissions already in 2022, we set a new target: a 60% reduction by 2030 from the 2019 base year. Value chain (Scope 3) target remains unchanged, aiming for 50% emission reduction by 2030 from the use of sold products and purchased goods and services. Current progress: Scope 1 & 2 emissions reduced 54% and Scope 3 emissions 20% from the base year 2019. - We create a fair, inclusive, diverse and engaging working environment
In 2025, we fulfilled the commitment set in 2024 to pay a living wage to all our employees. We also measured an 83% inclusion index in 2025, indicating a strong feeling of inclusion among our employees. - We expect high ethical standards of ourselves and our business partners
In 2025, we continued to roll-out the updated Supplier Code of Conduct with more robust human rights management requirements as well as more emphasis on environmental responsibility, reaching the coverage of 78% of suppliers.

Konecranes actively and regularly responds to sustainability questionnaires from rating providers such as MSCI ESG, CDP Climate, ISS ESG, EcoVadis and Sustainalytics. In 2025, Konecranes received an A rating for a second year in a row from CDP's annual climate program in recognition of the performance and transparency of its climate work. The measurement is based on the company's disclosures about its actions to cut emissions, manage and mitigate climate risks and develop a low-carbon offering.
CDP is an international non-profit that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. CDP urges companies and cities to take action in building a truly sustainable economy by measuring their environmental impact.

In September 2025, Konecranes received an ESG Risk Rating of 13.6 and was assessed by Morningstar Sustainalytics to be at low risk of experiencing material financial impacts from ESG factors.
Morningstar Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings measure a company’s exposure to industry-specific material ESG risks and how well a company is managing those risks. This multi-dimensional way of measuring ESG risk combines the concepts of management and exposure to arrive at an assessment of ESG risk, i.e., a total unmanaged ESG risk score or the ESG Risk Rating, that is comparable across all industries. Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings provide a quantitative measure of unmanaged ESG risk and distinguish between five levels of risk: negligible, low, medium, high and severe. In 2025, Konecranes received a Prime status in the ISS ESG Corporate Rating. Konecranes was rated in the best decile among Industrial Machinery & Equipment and it was among the top performers with the B- rating.
Prime status is awarded to companies with an ESG performance above the sector-specific Prime threshold, which means that they fulfil ambitious absolute performance requirements.
ISS performs an ESG rating analysis annually based on publicly available material. ISS ESG Rating transparently provides useful benchmark assessments with regard to the decile rank within a sector or peer group as well as the top five performers within a sector, absolute score distributions in an industry or peer group and key issue performance compared to the sector average.

Konecranes released Sustainability Statement in accordance with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and European Sustainability Reporting Standards with a limited third-party assurance. The Sustainability Statement is targeted primarily at investors and it has been published as part of Konecranes’ Annual Report.
