Customer portal gives manufacturer comprehensive maintenance reporting

Nordic Tank Oy, headquartered in Oulu, Finland in conjunction with the Oritkari factory, is the largest manufacturer of tank trailers and tank superstructures in Scandinavia. The company has 200 employees and its turnover amounts to EUR 25 million (2014). Nordic Tank Oy’s factory in Oulu manufactures ADR classified vehicle tanks, tank trailers and semi-trailers.

The challenge of collecting maintenance data

The Nordic Tank Oy factory in Oulu ordered crane inspections, crane maintenance and welding machine maintenance from different providers. Due to the requirements of the quality system, maintenance data had to be collected from these different sources and manually entered into a spreadsheet. This made reporting documentation difficult to record and retrieve.

Centralizing data with the customer portal

We provided the CARE Preventive Maintenance program, a service package that includes crane inspections and preventive maintenance. Oulu factory equipment data was transferred to the Konecranes Portal, which now provides direct access to maintenance data— including planned inspections, service and reports—in an easy-to-access and responsive web interface.

The portal eliminates the need to enter maintenance record data into spreadsheets. Maintenance and inspection reports are now available on the customer portal. “Our quality system requires monitoring equipment maintenance,” states Kari Asumaniemi, production manager at Nordic Tank Oy’s factory in Oulu. “Your service made our operation significantly clearer and easier. Monitoring is now handled from one place. Crane inspections and maintenance, as well as machine tool and welding machine maintenance, also come from one provider. The ease of use of the service has allowed us to focus on what’s most important – our core business.”
