How do we design lifting equipment?

Decisions made at the design phase critically determine a product's overall environmental impact. How do we minimize the environmental impact of our products at Konecranes?

We are committed to environmental responsibility and always strive to minimize the impact of our operations and products.

Crane’s lifecycle phase: Design

When designing lifting equipment, we aim for energy and material efficiency. Good maintainability is important for ensuring a long lifetime of the product. Design for Environment concept helps us take these topics into account and being smart in the design phase. Life Cycle Assessment is a tool for analyzing different design solutions and we use it for finding ways to reduce the environmental impact of our products.

Example of the decisions made at the design phase

For example, with the Konecranes C-series chain hoist, we have reduced carbon dioxide emissions by using less materials, and technology that consumes less energy than our previous generation of chain hoists.
