Norfolk Southern Corporation is one of the nation’s premier transportation companies. Its Norfolk Southern Railway subsidiary operates approximately 20,000 route miles in 22 states throughout the United States, serves every major container port in the eastern U.S. and provides efficient connections to other rail carriers.

When Sheffield Yard, one of the major railroad yards of Norfolk Southern, was looking to increase safety and reduce maintenance costs, we introduced them to our MAINMAN Assessment and Lifecycle Services.

Our Lifecycle Services are a systematic, consistent, comprehensive and professional approach to maintenance, supported by world-class tools and processes.

Over the past three years, we have been able to reduce the equipment deficiencies at Sheffield Yard by 62%. Total maintenance costs of the equipment were reduced by 50%. In addition, the preventive maintenance program identified a pattern of wear items that can now be replaced on a regular basis long before they become a safety hazard. These repairs can be scheduled around production, thus increasing the efficiency of the facility.
