A crane typically lifts and moves loads of varying sizes and weights and in many applications the full capacity of the crane is rarely used because it's operating with light loads or empty hooks. Konecranes Extended Speed Range (ESR) and Advanced Speed Range (ASR) Smart Features make these lifting processes more productive by allowing faster lifting and lowering speeds when light loads are handled. These features are active whenever the crane is operational and don't require the operator to make any additional adjustments.
Extended Speed Range is designed for high duty applications where near capacity loads are routinely lifted such as waste-to-energy plants or steel service centers. The maximum speed is automatically calculated based on the measured load. For example, when the load is less than 20% of the maximum rated load, the operator can move the crane at up to twice the nominal speed. The faster hoist speed allows operators to return empty hooks to position or move smaller loads with more speed and efficiency, minimizing work cycle times.
Advanced Speed Range is designed for applications with frequent light loads and occasional high capacity lifts such as small to medium sized assembly workshops where there is a high volume of incoming components, but only a few complete assemblies lifted in a day, week or month. The maximum speed is automatically calculated based on the measured load. For example, when the load is less than 10% of the maximum rated load, the operator can move the crane at up to 1.5 times the nominal speed, minimizing work cycle times.
