Shock Load Prevention

Prevent impact loading to extend equipment lifetime

Every lift takes a toll. Over a crane's lifetime, its structure, mechanics, ropes, and even the runway and building absorb enormous amounts of stress—and few things wear them down faster than impact loading from improper hoisting practices. A load picked up too quickly sends a jolt through the entire system, one lift at a time chipping away at its lifespan.

The Konecranes Shock Load Prevention Smart Feature addresses this at the source. If the hoist detects a load being picked up too fast, it automatically slows down for a smoother, more controlled lift. The result is less stress on the load and crane with each cycle, helping extend the life of the steel structure and mechanical components, and protecting your investment in the building itself.

Shock Load Prevention in action

Once the Shock Load Prevention feature is set up, it is always active. The hoist drive monitors the load and when a quick load change is detected, the system slows down until the load is lifted. After that, hoisting speed is not limited since the hoisting machinery has the load under control. With this automated feature the operator can focus on controlling the load, monitoring the environment and making sure the load remains secure. Without the operator needing to purposely slow down operation as the hoist is raised, the process becomes more efficient with less mechanical wear and tear on the crane.

Add Smart Features to your crane

You can buy Smart Features already installed on your new Konecranes equipment, or have them added to your existing cranes with a modernization. Choose the ones you want, or ask us to recommend a features package that fits your specific lifting needs.
