Hook Centering

Automatic centering improves safety, prevents damage

An off-center hook doesn't just slow down a lift—it creates a swinging load, and in busy areas, that swing can turn into a real hazard. Konecranes Hook Centering Smart Feature eliminates side pull by automatically positioning the bridge and trolley directly over the load before lifting begins, keeping the hook centered and the load steady from the start.

This precision matters most where people, vehicles and equipment share space with the crane's working area. In loading and unloading zones, manufacturing stations and maintenance activities, an unexpected swing can put personnel at risk or damage nearby structures. Hook Centering removes that variable, giving operators a safer, more controlled lift every time.

Hook Centering in action

To use Hook Centering, the crane operator turns the feature on with the selector switch on the radio controller. After that, the feature is always on in every lifting situation. Once the hook or lifting device has been connected to the load, the crane operator starts the lifting operation. If side pull is detected, Hook Centering activates. While the operator continues with the hoist-up command, the crane automatically positions the trolley and bridge over the load. At the same time, movement upwards is limited. When the crane and load are vertically aligned, lifting continues normally. Hook Centering provides improved operational safety, faster load cycle times, ease of operation and less wear and tear on crane components.
