Better performance, less load sway
Can you imagine controlling a delicate load, such as a sheet of glass, with an overhead crane while it is swinging drastically from side to side? Aside from the obvious safety challenges this could entail, such as damage to nearby individuals, equipment or products, the operator would need to wait as much as a few minutes before the load stopped swinging before properly placing and positioning the load.
Konecranes Sway Control Smart Feature limits load swing by controlling the acceleration and deceleration of the bridge and trolley. It allows faster load handling and more precise positioning while reducing the risk of damage to the load, crane and surrounding area. This feature is especially useful when loads need to be moved across large production areas or warehouses, in high-throughput production environments, when handling large, heavy or awkward loads, and in areas with limited clearances.
Sway Control in action
To use Sway Control, the crane operator turns the feature on with the selector switch on the radio controller. If different length slings or other devices are attached to the hook, the operator can adjust the sling length parameter using a switch on the radio. Crane operators can control and position loads with predictability and precision and operate all motions simultaneously both in manual and optional automatic modes.
